Snowy is a Mom!!

No sooner that we thought that Snowy, our Flemish Giant Mix will never bear litter.... guess what ?? She did!!! Early Sunday morning we noticed a baby on the floor of the Duplex Hutch. So we moved him into the cage in the kitchen and fast tracked Coco's family move into the hutch. About noon, she gave birth to 3 more little Snowies. Unfortunately the biggest one was still-born. We noticed that she was not as natural as Coco into motherhood. Maybe she was too big for the cage ... who knows.. she didn't pull off her hair surrounding her teats, she was always fat or should I say she was too heavy for her height, so nobody actually noticed she was pregnant.

Anyway apart from the 2 Albino catfish, 13 Pink Talapia, 5 Sungai Pahang Baung, 1 huge DBKL in the pond, about 8 squirrels living in the porch ceiling and the Cherry tree, scores of kucing kuraps, we now have Tango, Ruby, Coco, Brownie, Chuping, Cookie, Snowy and 3 nameless little baby bunnies!!! That's 10 bunnies!!!! We need to give a way some.... especially one of the males!! They don't seem to know when to give up !! Sniffing away like a sex crazed errrr..... bunny with supercharged Duracell.

When they say $^&#! like bunnies, this is what it means huh!!

Nexus Karambunai - Heaven!

Anyway, my trip to KK started off with a few relaxing days stay in the tranquil Nexus Resort Karambunai which was definitely not enough. I must recommend to others to stay at least a week here to really enjoy the place coz there are just so many things to do. 1 day for each hotel star rating and 1 day for the journey…

The ambience, the look and the sound of Nexus Golf Resort Karambunai can put you in a permanent holiday mood as permanent as my stretch marks!!. There are enough natural looking pools to fit hundreds of guests at one time and plenty of sun beds between the pool and the beach without you having to arm wrestle or waking up at 5.30 am to ‘reserve’ one ahead of the German Hospice Group!!

I especially love the fact that when I stood at the pool area looking over at the beach, I can see left and right, people being massaged, people on horses, people enjoying snacks by the ice cream cart, people sun bathing here and there, some beach games being played, some people playing board games etc.

When one has been brought up watching Fantasy Island, one would have a preconceived idea about how a resort should be like! And this is definitely it!

For their little guests, they even thoughtfully added a half shade across the kiddy pool so that the kids can spend all day in the pool without the worry of sunstroke and there’s even a Nexie Club with activities to occupy the kids giving time off to the parents to do their own stuff…quickie and all heheheee.

However, to stay here without a car, one needs to be prepared to eat and live in the resort. It’s about 40 minutes away from the airport and the nearest place to eat is probably 1 ½ hours away on foot!

The only thing that I wished they had is a Karaoke outlet and my daughter wished for a playground! Apart from that, its picture purrrfect!

Pictures can tell a thousand words! So go get yer Kleenex and drooool …

Holidaying is one of the ways to reduce stress!

What better way but to start with stories about my much needed holiday voyage to the land beneath the wind and to the land of hornbills. The famous ‘No Confidence Vote’ state of Sabah and Sarawak, by far the largest under-developed state by land mass in Malaysia!!

The Flight
LCCT – Kuching – Kota Kinabalu
Why Kuching stopover???...... don’t ask….

*intermission*
Did you know that one of the criteria to be an Air Asia stewardess is “to have inexhaustible smile”??!! Ironically, I did not even see a smirk on any of the stewardesses faces on my recent flights!! Apart from a slight twitch from their upper lip towards the “X-press” check-in passengers i.e. people who insisted to pay extra money to be seated First way before mothers with infants, wheelchair bound and fossil aged passengers!!! It’s a bit ironic that one would choose a No Frills airline with the same seating configuration, same class for all or fairness like the ‘Round Table of Camelot’ yet ‘Pay Extra’ to get positive discrimination…. Duhh!! Lack of smiles? Maybe it’s because the girls were forced into those uncomfortable tight, short red skirts that seems to show their very distinctive ‘Grandma styled panty lines’….Air Asia…. Now everybody can squirm!!! Good value? 10 sen flight YES RM8 Nasi Lemak NO!!
*end of intermission*

Sabah-bah!!

Incidentally, the last time I was in Sabah, it was for my birth!! Yes, that’s right! I was born here! I can still remember the first faint words I heard …..Push!!!Push!!! Sikit laaagi… It’s a girl….. with attitude-lah!!! God sent me to a land of natural beauty and tranquility and where did I end up??? In KL!!! Peergh!! Everyone here ends their sentences with a Bah! Imagine if every state speaks the same insane way…. Rak for Perak, Tan for Kelantan, Dah for Kedah. Worst would be Johor with Hor which sounds like a swearing New York pimp on crack!!

To be continued...

Sometimes less is more...

After a long soul searching, I’ve decided that my blog should be somewhere I can impart some kind of knowledge to the readers rather than a meaningless story about my life which of no concern to anyone but me…. It may be exciting, refreshing, witty, and full of love, inspiring, cynical and sarcastic but to others meaningless nevertheless…

I thought I was gonna take a break from blogging but this is important!

No, we are not going to hike the price for fuel anytime soon, most likely in August.

Then next day, all hell broke loose when people scrambled to fill up their tank because of the price hike!

~ - ~

No, the election is not going to be soon.

Then next day, parliament was dissolved to make way for election campaign!

~-~

No, I’m not getting married.

Then next day, please meet Malaysia’s new 1st lady!

~-~

No, Thais and Singaporean are banned from buying Msian petrol.

Then next 2 days, the ban was lifted off!

~-~

Will there be an end to this saga of hypocrisy?

On second thought...

Perhaps I was not clear enough?

Its not forever you know but just during these busy period of mine.

The other truth is that I thought this blog of mine has becoming quite boring and predictable. Out of fear on becoming another notch in the statistic details of bimbos blog without any substance, I've decided to start another journey of self-discovery that should help me write something more concrete and refreshing!

Be seeing you, perhaps in a month's time?

Debutante!

“Mama I want to poo poo” Cheeky bom bom whispered to me few minutes before she was due to present the flower bouquet to the DYMM Sultanah Perak, Tuanku Bainun.

Aisehman!!!

Racking my brain, I remembered from a distant memory of someone telling me an ancient Malay Archipelago mantra she would recite whenever she wants to control her urge to crap.

Desperately I whispered to cheeky bom bom to recite in her heart these words…

‘Kepala ke bawah bontot ke atas!"
Over and over again… *Snigger*

I didn’t know whether it actually worked or just a coincidence but at least my daughter was no longer grimacing in pain, clutching her tummy…whatever works right? Maybe it was just nervousness, what she described as pain was really ‘Butterflies in the Tummy’.

Anyway Mother’s Day celebration organized by mom was perfecto! The entourage of Royal Perak sisters came in full force accompanying their mummy dearest and their ‘just out of confinement’ sister in-law, Tuanku Zara, all looking drop dead gorgeous!

Cheeky bom bom had a whale of time from her exposure to her first adult party even dancing poco-poco with the royalties and making new friends along the way.

Then the next day, old friends got together to celebrate the birth of a new born, ‘A.Zara’. Apparently ‘Zara’ seems to be a popular name these days.

I had even joked with the ‘mama’ about giving birth early and the mother brushed off the comment confidently saying that in the past all her children popped out later than the due date. Imagine our surprise when eager little A. Zara made her entrance the very next day after I commented, 10 days earlier than expected!

Tu lah Ally McBeal, kan aku dah cakap… aku ni ada Daulat Bangsawan Bugis Nusantara! *smirking*

Now I wonder if the mantra can be introduced in the Yoga class as part of self cleansing?

“Ommm Kepala ke bawah bontot ke atas…. Kepala ke bawah bontot ke atas… Kepala ke bawah bontot ke atas….. Kepala ke bawah bontot ke atas…… Kepala ke bawah bontot ke atas……

New Age Music

Last night’s wedding had me grinning and has opened my horizons to see how the traditional music develop. Maybe its due to the fact it’s a marriage between Malaysia and the land of the Bolkiahs, but the way they played the kompang!!! Yeah, you read it right. Kompang!! It was a fusion of kompang, gendang, drum and gamelan played by over enthusiast teenagers to the style of modern percussionists. At first it was your normal kompang beat whilst the bride and groom walked down the aisle. The moment they stopped at the dais, all of a sudden these boys whipped out their sticks and started to thump on the kompangs like drums and jumping like chimpanzees on a drug binge! But ada style-lah. It was fun, exhilarating and it was the perfect music to transform the somber mood to a cheerful one.

How the music has evolved as such that without compromising the traditional instruments, we can now actually modernize it to give it a breeze of fresh air. I’m quite sure that there are some ‘katak bawah tempurung’ old fashion people who may brush aside these new ideas term it as rubbish or Cultural Cancer. But then again, these are the kind of people who time and time again make the same mistake of expecting that people will be loyal and respectful to them just because they were loyal and respectful to their tok moyang without questioning the right or wrong. Oh well…..

I didn't take their picture but you can just imagine based on these....go on, go wild with your imagination!

In a perfect world, woman is King of the Day!

It was a great Sunday. That morning, I had breakfast in bed, came downstairs and was greeted by bunch of lilies and then got to open my presents. My dearest gave me some perfumes to go with the pretty dress that cheeky bom bom got for me. Then, for lunch, my dearest grilled up some delish steaks with mashed potatoes, green beans and garlic, mushrooms, and Dijon onions on the side. What made the lunch special was that I didn’t have to cook and I also didn't have to clean up. It was great! Then later that night, my dearest brought me out for the most romantic candle light dinner. It was a perfect day!

Then I woke up from the perfect dream! Bah humbug!

Reality check!

Got out of bed and went downstairs where I was greeted by the sight of my hubby and daughter sprawling in front of the TV looking hungry, piles of dirty clothes in the cloth bin, dusty house that surely needed vacuuming and million other things that only a mother knows how to do best.

Sigh!

Why can’t it be Mother’s Day everyday?

Successor to my Alma Mater!

Yesterday I was genuinely humbled yet again by a friend.

Months ago, in passing I mentioned wistfully to a friend that I wanted cheeky bom bom to go to Convent school when she entered standard one next year. Realistically, I know it’s almost impossible due to the distance and the house address guideline thingy.

Yesterday the same friend surprised me by saying that she has pulled some strings and reserved a place for my daughter in the school. I was flabbergasted.

I am overwhelmed with gratitude that someone who is currently going through a terrible test of her life, yet can find the time to help me out (bearing in mind that I never ask for her help) without any ulterior motive.

I live by the Universal truth that what goes around comes around and that every one of your good or evil deeds will reward you tenfold. I must have done something right in the past to be blessed and surrounded with many good friends.

To Zira, you don’t know that I have a blog, but if you happened to come across this blog of mine one fine day, do know that this post is especially dedicated to you, a loyal and nice friend. This good deed of yours will come around one day back to you my friend! And mark my word that this storm you’re facing will pass by you soon. Hang in there!

And because of you, yesterday I decided to let my dearest eat the last spoonful of bubur pulut hitam even though I really, really wanted it.

Do you know that if you can count the numbers of really good friends (the kind that you can count on for anything), on one hand, than you are indeed one of the luckiest and richest person around?

So do you?

Anyway, regardless the fact that apparently in the Parliament last year, some exceedingly brilliant gentleman who had nothing better to do with his time and nothing to do in his community that this Sherlock had to point out that mission schools in Malaysia, such as Convent, La Salle and Methodist have crosses and statues representing the Christian faith in them….Well no shit.

And then there was the uneducated prick (same place, same time) had to butt in and mentioned that apparently "a father have alerted him that these missionary schools are not close during Raya"….Not close during Raya? Yeah right!

Whatever it is, come next year, my daughter will join her mother, her aunties, her grandmother and her great grandmother on becoming a member of the convent girls sisterhood!

Men - What do they want really?

I have always wondered about the saying ‘men are from Mars and women are from Venus'. Can this approach be used in our chain of thoughts when it comes to gift buying for these two genders?

Why is it so difficult to get a gift for a man? I have spent the past umpteen years cracking my brain trying to get the perfect gifts for the men in my life i.e my dearest, good ole dad and my brother. In all those years, I would probably have scored once or twice the perfect present! The rest…blegh!

When we were little, dad has had hundreds of shirts, ties, garden stuff, the odd book, some scary undies & hankies! Now that we are adults, we hope to at least get him something a little more substantial. Hence lots of phone calls between us trying to find out his latest hobby!

Why can't men just be straight forward like a woman when it comes to buying gifts. Buying gifts for my mom and sisters are always fun and easy. Infact, months before any event, birthdays, anniversaries or mother's day, I would dropped hints *really heavy hints* to my dearest for the things that I want!

Replies like 'anything dear' or 'don't go through too much trouble' or 'don't spend too much' or 'Oh, don't make a big deal about my birthday', does not warrant to anything if during spring cleaning, suddenly one find those gifts tucked away at the back of the cupboards (hoping that I will not find out but I did!)!

There were the forgotten shirts, pants, electrical gadgets, cool items to me but apparently not so to them…etc.

This year was no different! I had worn out my shoes last week, hunting for a gift for dad’s birthday. I flirted between shirts *eyes rolling*, pants *what’s new?*, books, socks, electrical gadgets, sporting equipments, etc. But nothing seems to fit the bill….or should I say the budget..hehe.

At last I got him a sport t-shirt!

So did my other siblings!

But they became insignificant, paled in comparison, when we saw what he got for himself!

Duh….I shouldn’t have bothered!

Please come tooth fairy!

Cheeky bom bom has joined friends her age having lost her front tooth.

She was quite upset by it as first especially in view that she is due to present bouquet of flowers to our DYMM Permaisuri Agong in a few weeks time. I have been telling her bedtime stories about a girl with no front tooth which at the end will either became a heroine, married a prince or became the most popular girl in the school.

Help! I’ve ran out of storylines to bullshit! Ideas anyone?

Anyone?

Bob the builder!

The past few weeks have been quite stressful for me. Every time it rains, my lawn became a lake. I know that the Chinese believed its good feng shui to buy a house near a water source but having muddy foot prints on the porch was a bit too much for me.

This was made worse with my dearest latest project. You see, he has taken pity on me having to clean the rabbit’s cage daily that he has decided to build them an outdoor Eco-friendly Rabbit Hutch.

The Hutch must:
1 be made from 70% recycled stuff
2 able to fertilize the whole garden
3 look cool and not the ordinary ‘Reban Ayam’
4 Children friendly
5 Easy to clean & maintenance free
6 Cost less than my last shopping spree in Pavillion

So along with the water and the mud, I now have to live with litters of wood, wire mesh, assortment of tools and ‘atap genting’. So you can imagine the state of my lawn every time it rains….every gardener’s nightmare!!

But everything is almost back to normal now. The rabbit’s hutch is finished and I’ll bet you couldn’t find 2 happier bunnies than mine within 50km radius from our home. Before, in their small humble bedsit, they had nothing else to do but eat, they just ate, ate and ate. But now, they can actually hoppity hop, stretched to the max or simply laze around in the duplex A-Framed apartment which my dearest lovingly named ‘Istana Polo Johor Bahru’.

Now, most evenings you can find him sitting in front of the rabbit’s hutch, talking to them or simply looking at it smiling proudly with his own handiwork. You know, the way he looks at the ‘Istana Polo’, I think he secretly wish that he can became an animagus and joined the rabbits in their new home. In a few months, hopefully Tango and Snowy could be as productive as Tengku Yem & Raja Zarith Sofea …..the residents of Istana Polo in JB.

All about him!

I received an email this morning about a newly found creature that looked like a little ‘anak naga’. Forwarded the email to my dearest for confirmation and this was his reply…

“Anak naga yang i tahu gelap sikit..... now he is about 38 yrs old... Raj Kumar a/l Naga Rajah”!

Recently, a friend of my dearest took a picture with the 2nd place winner of One in A Million, the singing competition.

My dearest: Dia ni yang bapak dia Teletubbies kan?

His friend: *paused*

Several seconds later…

His friend: Oh, sebab bapak dia Nd Lala! *tergelak*

So readers, did you get the jokes? *grin cheekily*

Small they may be but...euwww!

Neighbour: Babe, I just bought hamsters so I will need your advice on how to take care of them!

Me: Err, what makes you think I’m an expert at all?

Neighbour: My daughter told me that you ‘bela tikus’ at home.

Me: Err, ‘bela tikus’ is not the word that I would choose since I will kill those bastards the moment I see one.

Neighbour: You mean, you have real tikus at home and not hamsters?

Me: Yeah! Why? *dahi berkerut*.

Neighbour: Damn! When she said you have tikus in your house, I really thought she meant hamsters. Now what am I gonna do with my hamsters? I know nuts about them.

Me: *Pointing at the computer, giggling* Good luck friend!

Yeah, you have just learned something new about me today, I hate small hairy animals…MAK GELI SIOT!
